Native from Aix-en-Provence, Tomek jarolim is a visual artist, a graphic and interaction designer. From various digital media, he develops personal devices, collective projects and live performing arts.
Since his studies at École Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en-Provence, Tomek Jarolim develops interactive and generative installations which question the viewer on his viewing status, through lights, screens and video-projectors. In 2008, he transposes his digital universe for the scenography of Shades of White, conceived with the dancer Bruno Péré, in the framework of the festival « Les Affluents » at Ballet Preljocaj. He follows at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where he focuses on a sound project, Ut Queant Laxis, choreographed by Beth Jucovy for the festival « Innovation in Dance » in New York. In 2009, he presents Invisibles at the 14th Biennial of the Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean in Skopje, which allows him to get onto more sensorial questions, that he follows within DRii (Relational Devices, Interactive Installations) at Ensadlab, research program of École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He works on interactive lights pieces, especially via the project The Eyes Closed.
In parrallel, he collaborates to pieces such as Augmented Window by Thierry Fournier at Centre Pompidou, Discontrol Party by Samuel Bianchini at La Gaîté Lyrique, and Citymedia, a communicating touch wall conceived in the framework of atelier hypermedia at École Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en-Provence. In september 2011, he signs the digital creation of Ring Saga, an opera by Antoine Gindt, according to the Richard Wagner’s Ring of the Nibelung.
